Conditions of application of the security deposit
To protect themselves against possible damage, the owners of the short-term seasonal rental Philomena chalet require a security deposit (commonly called a deposit) from their holidaymakers in the amount of €2000.
This deposit is required for any rental period, regardless of its duration. It is required to be deposited before the start of the rental and must be blocked at the choice of the holidaymaker:
- either by free dematerialized credit card imprint without debit, blocked amount impacting the banking ceiling (solutionWANNAPAY)see conditions below §2
- either by dematerialized credit card imprint with fees, without debit, without impact on the bank ceiling (solutionSWIKLY)see conditions below §3
- either by bank transfer (free of charge) to the Owner's account see conditionsbelow §4
Security deposits by check or cash are not permitted.
Entry to the property will not be granted to the Vacationer if the deposit process has not been completed before the start of the stay.
This deposit will be released at the end of the stay by the Owner, normally just after the Vacationer's departure, once the accommodation has been returned in accordance with the condition in which it was entrusted.
However, the sum reserved by this clause cannot limit the responsibility of the Vacationer vis-à-vis the Owner, and any damage whose amount exceeds that of the deposit must be fully covered by the Vacationer.
Security deposit by credit card imprint free of charge, without debit with impact on bank ceiling (WANNAPAY)
The owners of Chalet Philomena use the services of the WANNAPAY.FR platform to offer their holidaymakers a free online management tool for their security deposit by credit card imprint without debit. WANNAPAY is an IT gateway that links the secure electronic payment platform STRIPE and owners.
Thanks to WANNAPAY, the owners of Chalet Philomena generate and send security deposit links by email or WhatsApp to their holidaymakers.
Upon receipt of this link, they enter the details of the bank card on which the amount of €2000 will be blocked for 7 days. This transaction will be authenticated by 3D Secure 2.
If the 7-day period expires before the vacationers leave the premises, the security deposit will be renewed in order to cover the period of occupation of the vacationers in the chalet.
At the end of the stay, if no damage is found, the security deposit will be released, no fees will be applied to the holidaymaker.
In the event of damage noted (see §5), any sum deducted from the WANNAPAY/STRIPE security deposit will incur STRIPE costs.
Current STRIPE fees:
- 1.4% + €0.25 for bank cards from the European Economic Area + 1.1% for British bank cards
- 2.9% + €0.25 for international cards. If currency conversion is required, an additional 2% fee applies.
The owners will increase the amount withheld from holidaymakers on their deposit by STRIPE fees.
Security deposit by credit card imprint without debit & without impact on bank ceiling, with fees (SWIKLY)
The owners of Chalet Philomena use the services of the SWIKLY platform to offer their holidaymakers an online tool for their security deposit by credit card imprint without debit that does not impact their bank ceiling. The SWIKLY solution is completely secure. However it generates fees for holidaymakers who opt for this solution.
All credit cards are accepted except the following cards which do not allow post debit or online transactions:
The American Express
Diners Club International
Debit cards with systematic authorization

Thanks to SWIKLY, the owners of Chalet Philomena generate and send security deposit links by email + SMS to their holidaymakers.
Upon receipt of this link, they enter the details of the bank card on which the amount of €2000 will be guaranteed for the duration of their stay.
In order to allow deposit to be deposited online without being debited and without impacting the credit card limit, SWIKLY pre-authorizes €1 on the holidaymaker's bank account. This makes it possible to verify that the credit card is not a card declared stolen, lost, expired, etc.
Depending on the bank, a debit line "-€1" may appear on the bank statement. In this case, a new line of credit will appear within 15 days. This is a bank pre-authorization, it is not a payment.
In general, if no damage is found (see §5) the deposit expires a few days after the end of the stay, but holidaymakers can ask the owners to have the deposit expire manually from their Swikly account.
Fees applied by Swikly:
- Security service Security Deposit: 1.73% including tax of the amount of the deposit + €0.30 cts
- Swikly Collection Service (by request for collection of a swik deposit): 4.08% + €0.30 cts of the amount collected on the deposit
Security deposit by bank transfer
The vacationer can deposit his deposit by bank transfer to the bank account of the owners whose references were sent to him in the rental contract.
The vacationer must communicate his own bank details to the owners so that they can in turn reimburse his deposit at the end of his stay.
It should be noted that the deadline for the return of the deposit by bank transfer is made within 1 to 2 days if no damage is observed.
Damage and other amounts that may be deducted from the security deposit
The security deposit is used to cover any damage caused to the accommodation, furniture (disappearance, tears, stains, breakage, burns, etc.), objects and exterior parts of the property (this amount must be justified by quotations or invoices) as well as to cover any excessive use of electrical heating.
If the number of vacationers exceeds the maximum capacity of 12 people or if vacationers come with an animal, the owners reserve the right to collect the entire security guarantee.
Finally, the owners also reserve the right to activate the security guarantee in order to cover the additional cleaning costs in the event that the holidaymakers leave the accommodation in a non-compliant state, being announced that the standard end-of-stay cleaning included in the rental price corresponds to 10 hours of cleaning.
Applicable law and competent jurisdiction
These T&Cs as well as all the contractual information mentioned on this website are written in French and subject to French law.
In the event of a dispute or dispute between the parties, they will endeavor in good faith to reach an amicable agreement.
If no amicable solution is found, the Court of Nantes / France will have exclusive jurisdiction.
